Atalanta confirm surgery for Toure

Atalanta announce that their all-time club record signing El Bilal Toure has undergone surgery to repair a torn tendon in his right thigh.

The striker picked up the serious injury during a friendly match before the season kicked off and it was immediately known to be a huge blow.

A statement was released this afternoon confirming that Toure had surgery to repair the torn connection of the tendon in the rectus femoris in his right thigh.

The operation was performed by specialist Dr Ramon Cugat at the Hospital Quironsalud in Barcelona.

It was a success and the player has already started the rehabilitation process.

There are reports Toure could be out of action until 2024, as this type of injury is believed to require circa four months on the sidelines.

Toure turns 22 in October and was a club record signing from Almeria, where he cost €28m plus €3m in bonuses and a 15 per cent cut of the sell-on fee.
