The Italian centre-back has impressed in the past few seasons on the books of Cagliari and has found himself on the verge of breaking into Cesare Prandelli’s plans at national level.

Regularly linked with a number of clubs, including a return to Milan where he developed as a youngster, the 25-year-old instead looks likely to move to Unai Emery’s Russian Premier League team.

Sky Sport understand that Cagliari have accepted a €14m bid for the defender and that he will now travel out to Moscow to undergo a medical and sign a four-year contract worth €2m per season.
