Anguissa scores in Napoli friendly draw

Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa was on target with the equaliser after an Alex Meret howler, as Napoli were held to a 1-1 friendly draw by SPAL.

Rudi Garcia was forced to make a change after just 33 minutes when Mario Rui limped off with a muscular problem, to be replaced by Matias Olivera.

Matteo Politano and Michael Folorunsho went close and Alessandro Zanoli was denied by a save in the first half.

Coach Garcia changed 10 of his starting XI after the restart, including Victor Osimhen and Giacomo Raspadori, while Kvicha Kvaratskhelia smashed a finish against the crossbar on the Nigerian’s assist.

SPAL took the lead against the run of play when Filippo Puletto took a free kick from the centre-circle and caught Meret off his line with the audacious long-range lob.

Osimhen got irritated with the SPAL players for a couple of rough tackles, but he helped create the equaliser with an inspired dummy to let through Piotr Zielinski’s pull-back from the left, allowing Anguissa to sweep in from 12 yards.
