Nicolas Anelka feels that new club Juventus have everything needed to be crowned as Champions League winners this May.
Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s last 16 first leg tie at Celtic, the former French international is in confident mood.
“All the ingredients are there for us to do well, but of course it is a very tough competition,” the January signing told the Daily Record.
“One of the reasons I joined Juventus is because I believe we have the quality to win the Champions League this season.
“From my first training session with Juventus it was clear there is the quality of player and determination to win the competition.”
Anelka knows what is needed to triumph in Europe’s premier club competition given his success with Real Madrid in 2000.
“It’s a dream to add one more before I stop playing,” the now former Shanghai Shenhua man added. “I have come close with Chelsea since, but close is not good enough.”
Although dreaming of Wembley glory at the end of the season, the player is showing Scottish giants Celtic respect ahead of their meeting.
“It will be a tough game in Glasgow,” he added. “It is one of the most famous and intense football cities in the world.
“Their fans have waited a long time to be back in the knock-out stages and they will be ready for this. What Celtic have going for them is no pressure.”
Anelka has yet to feature for his new club. "If the Coach chooses to play me I’m ready for Celtic,” he underlined.
