Andreazzoli: ‘Totti makes it easier’

Aurelio Andreazzoli praised Francesco Totti and Erik Lamela as his Roma beat Parma to go joint fifth.

The Giallorossi pushed past Parma 2-0 this evening to catch Lazio and Inter in the race for Europe, although the Nerazzurri have a game in hand because their trip to Sampdoria was rained off.

“I am satisfied with the performance, as we made a great step forward,” said the Coach who replaced Zdenek Zeman.

“We prepared for this game and applied our plans consistently. Of course with Totti playing at this level, then it all becomes easier. He makes even the most difficult moves seem simple.

“We have a very precise idea of how to contribute to the attacking moves. Last week I said we were inconsistent, but today I saw that development.

“Lamela is a guy who can be unstoppable when he runs towards goal. He has pace and technique, quick reactions, good aim and stamina. After Zeman’s tests, he beat everyone when it came to running 1,000 metres.

“The system might’ve looked like a 3-5-2 today, but the lads were given very attacking roles to play, from Simone Perrotta to Alessandro Florenzi and Marquinho.”

Several Roma players have hailed Andreazzoli for his way of communicating with the squad, a definite change from Zeman’s style.

“I don’t know what I do that is so important… I try to be myself, say what I think and do what I say. I do express myself very clearly. What would’ve happened if Roma had called me earlier? To be honest, I still think it weird they called me at all…”
