Aurelio Andreazzoli has hit back at the critics after Roma’s defeat to Chievo. “On Monday I was a phenomenon, on Tuesday I was an idiot.”

The Giallorossi had a chaotic few days, beating Fiorentina 1-0 on Saturday evening and losing to Chievo on home turf on Tuesday night, sparking wildly different reactions in the media.

“On Monday I was a phenomenon, on Tuesday I was an idiot,” said the Coach.

“At my age, I am aware of how things work. It is always a pleasure to receive compliments, there’s no point denying it, just like criticism is irritating.

“I think we have by now created enough of a thick skin to deal with these problems.”

Roma will face Lazio in the Coppa Italia Final on May 26 at the Stadio Olimpico, possibly the most important Derby della Capitale ever.

“This is a really special derby, a planetary event,” said Andreazzoli. “I daren’t think what will happen in the city that week.”

The Giallorossi fans placed a large banner at the training ground today that simply read: ‘Losing the Final is forbidden.’
