Real Madrid Coach Carlo Ancelotti has drawn comparisons between Sergio Ramos and Milan defensive legend Paolo Maldini.
The Italian tactician presided over Champions League and Copa Del Rey triumphs in his first season in charge at Santiago Bernabeu. He also twice led the Rossoneri to victory in Europe’s premier club competition, with Maldini being part of his San Siro team on both occasions.
Speaking in an interview with Real Madrid TV, the former PSG and Chelsea boss hailed Ramos’ contribution to Los Blancos’ successful campaign, saying that he has similar attributes to the iconic Maldini.
“Since Christmas Sergio Ramos has been a different player,” Ancelotti said. “He was decisive in winning the trophies.
“He has everything that Maldini had – personality, technical quality and the ability to be a leader on and off the pitch.
“I have never compared anyone to Maldini. Sergio is the best defender in the World at the moment.”
