Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti has conceded defeat to Arsenal over Lille winger Nicolas Pepe but insisted that ‘I’m not disappointed’.

Pepe is set to join Arsenal over Napoli after the latter were unable to agree personal terms with the 24-year-old, but Ancelotti made it clear his club would not dwell on their failure.

“I don’t like talking about players from other teams, but I can tell you that I’m not disappointed,” said the Coach, who watched the Partenopei thrash Liverpool 3-0 on Sunday.

“There’s still a long way to go in the window. We have other very good players still on holiday, such as Allan, Koulibaly and Fabian Ruiz.

“We’re certainly looking for players, and if there are opportunities we’ll seize them.”

That was preceded by Gunners manager Unai Emery hinting at the Ivorian’s arrival.

“We are working, the club, and also thinking about how we can improve,” remarked the Spaniard after his side’s Emirates Cup defeat to Olympique Lyonnais.

“There are different players on the table with the possibility that we can achieve their signature.

“Pepe is a very good player and also we are thinking only of players who can really, really improve this squad and also give us some different conditions to improve.

“The same, we are working for the last few weeks and before starting the season in the first match in Newcastle, our aim is to get the best team with the best players in our squad.”
