Ancelotti: ‘No Napoli emergency’

Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti plays down rumours over his club re-signing Edinson Cavani, insisting there is ‘no emergency’ with his squad.

The Uruguayan previously played for the Partenopei between 2010 and 2013 before leaving to join Paris Saint-Germain.

Speculation has linked the forward with a potential return to San Paolo this summer, but Ancelotti dismissed the talk as ‘rumours.’

“These are rumours that come about in any window, then we’ll prepare for them in January,” Ancelotti said at a Press conference.

Speculation has linked the forward with a potential return to San Paolo this summer, but Ancelotti dismissed the talk as ‘rumours.’

“These are rumours that come about in any window, then we’ll prepare for them in January,” Ancelotti said at a Press conference.

“I have some fantastic players and I have the fortune to coach them.

“Because of this, other teams’ players do not interest me.”

Ancelotti added that he is happy with his current attacking options.

“I still haven’t seen Mertens, but in general all of the squad I have available has quality, is competitive, young and has great physical attributes.

“My impressions have been confirmed on this training camp.

“Other than the injuries to Meret and Zielinski, everyone is available and I think this period will be very useful.

“The work we have done has been very well organised and positive.”

Napoli are still in the hunt for a full-back and a goalkeeper in this summer’s transfer market, but Ancelotti will not rush into any new signings.

“These are things we are discussing with the club, then we will decide.

“There is no emergency, the team is well built and the market closes on 17 August.

“There will be some moves to make and, in the event we do, we’ll do it with calmness.”
