Krzysztof Piatek scored both goals in the 2-0 quarter-final result at San Siro.
“Napoli weren’t up to the task tonight,” confessed the Coach on Rai Sport.
“The game became very difficult to turn around after two early counter-attacks on long balls and then Milan clammed up. Other than the goals, they didn’t actually do very much, but right now we are not physically sharp enough to break down such a defensive approach.
“Without those two errors, we would’ve had more spaces opening up.”
Napoli were held to a 0-0 Serie A draw here on Sunday, falling 11 points behind leaders Juventus, so is there a crisis emerging?
“It’s one match, let’s not make problems bigger than they are. We have other objectives than the Coppa Italia. If Juventus win the Scudetto, it’ll be to their credit and not because we failed to test them.
“Qualifying for the Champions League is an objective for all the big clubs and we are happy to be so far ahead of the battle for fourth. We also care about the Europa League.”
Allan made his comeback against Milan after Paris Saint-Germain transfer speculation, but he was substituted at half-time.
“He played his game, as did everyone. I didn’t replace him because he played badly, but because I wanted to open the spaces up with another forward.
“Allan is our player, he had some temptation, but is very important for us and will be in future too. He just hasn’t trained much lately, which is why he hasn’t been playing as much.”
