Massimiliano Allegri says Adrien Rabiot ‘must improve’ and defends Alvaro Morata: ‘He played well against Zenit.’
Juventus fans are criticising both players as the Bianconeri are going through tough times in Serie A.
They suffered back to back defeats against Sassuolo and Hellas Verona and sit ninth in the Serie A table, four points off fourth-placed Roma and 16 points behind leaders Milan and Napoli.
Juventus host Fiorentina tomorrow and during his pre-match press conference, Allegri described the team’s problems and his players’ shape.
Alvaro Morata had had a positive start to the season but scored only one goal in the last five games, attracting criticism from Italian media and Bianconeri fans.
Allegri reveals Juventus problems and gives his verdict on Vlahovic
“He played a good game against Zenti and he finally found the net,” said Allegri.
“It was easier for him because he didn’t play with his back to the goal, now he can keep scoring for two or three months.”
Paulo Dybala scored twice, delivered an assist against Zenit and seems close to extending his contract with the Bianconeri.
“He is an important player, he is more mature and now he is improving because he has the right attitude in training. It must always be this way, we train as we play and we play as we train,” Allegri said.
La Joya has been included in the Argentina squad list for the upcoming international break along with Matias Soule, a Juventus starlet playing with the U23 squad.
“He is a good player, but we can’t put too much pressure on him. Otherwise, we make the same mistake that we do with other young players.
“They become Ballon d’Or material after three games. I will repeat it forever: a player reaches his maturity at 25-26, after playing many games.”
Safe to say, Allegri is not as impressed by Rabiot, when asked about the Frenchman’s potential, the coach replied: “It’s useless to talk about potential, Rabiot must do more, it’s very simple.”
