Riccardo Montolivo has backed boss Massimiliano Allegri to remain with Italian giants Milan for some time to come.
The tactician’s future remains in doubt despite the fact that his contract at San Siro will not expire until June 2014.
Speaking after the 4-2 win over Catania, the summer signing from Fiorentina paid tribute to the former Cagliari boss.
“A lot of the credit for the win goes to the Coach as he’s managed to find the right mix,” the Italian international noted.
“He kept things together when we were in trouble and he brought us back. He’s a great tactician and I hope he stays here for the long-term.”
The Rossoneri were facing defeat on Sunday night after Catania took the lead twice at San Siro, but the Diavolo hit back to record a 4-2 triumph.
“The second goal was a heavy blow, but we kept on believing,” Montolivo explained. “Then Giampaolo Pazzini came on and gave us something extra.
“We gave everything and it’s a deserved win. We created a lot and we did well to keep calm when we went down and to take the match back in hand.”
