Alex Jimenez is set to make his senior Milan debut against Cagliari tonight but his future at San Siro remains uncertain as the Rossoneri must pay €5m to sign him permanently from Real Madrid.
The versatile 18-year-old defender joined Milan on loan from Real Madrid last summer and is expected to make his debut with the Rossoneri’s first team in a Coppa Italia Round of 16 clash against Cagliari tonight.
Jimenez usually plays as a right-back but is expected to be deployed on the left flank tonight with Jan-Carlo Simic and Theo Hernandez in central defence and captain Davide Calabria as a right-back.
As reported by Italian transfer expert Matteo Moretto, it is not guaranteed that Jimenez will remain at San Siro beyond June, as Milan have an option worth €5m to make his move permanent at the end of the current campaign.
Jimenez has made 15 appearances with Milan’s Primavera team (U19) this season, including five in the Youth League. He will be given his first chance tonight as a senior Milan player.
