Ajax push Onana to Lyon, Inter can only wait

There are mixed reports on the future of Andre Onana, as while Ajax try to sell him to Olympique Lyonnais, it’s suggested the goalkeeper wants Inter as a free agent.

The shot-stopper is out suspended until November after failing a doping test and his contract with Ajax expires in June 2022.

Multiple French sources point to an imminent agreement between Lyon and Ajax for a fee worth circa €6m.

However, Tuttomercatoweb and FCInter1908.it both insist Onana pledged his future to Inter as a free agent some months ago, becoming the heir to Samir Handanovic.

Now it remains to be seen if Ajax will convince the shot-stopper to take the Lyon transfer or if he’ll hold out for the Inter switch next summer.

Arsenal had also been in the running for the 25-year-old Cameroon international goalkeeper.

Onana joined Barcelona’s youth academy in 2010 from the Samuel Eto’o Academy and was sold to Ajax for just €150,000 in January 2015.
