Agent: ‘Insigne must go to Euros’

Lorenzo Insigne’s agent says the Napoli playmaker is “indispensable” for Antonio Conte’s Italy squad.

Lorenzo Insigne’s agent says the Napoli playmaker is “indispensable” for Antonio Conte’s Italy squad.

The 24-year-old came off the bench and scored in Thursday’s friendly draw with Spain, but had been left out of previous squads after pulling out of a European Championship qualifier with injury.

Both the player and the CT have confirmed that the hatchet has been buried, and Insigne is expected to start for the Azzurri against Germany tonight.

“Lorenzo is fired-up and excited for tonight’s game,” Antonio Ottaiano confirmed on Radio Marte.

“He’ll be a starter and it will be an opportunity to once again display his immense talent and win a place for the next European Championship.

“He has a great desire to do well, we saw that in the friendly with Spain too. Conte must understand that he’s the right player for his squad.

“He can have such a big impact on the game, he’s really indispensable.”

At club level, the Partenopei are three points behind Juventus at the top of Serie A, and as a Neapolitan, Insigne is firmly focused on winning the Scudetto.

“He dreams of winning the title in the shirt of his beloved team, just like every fan. He knows it’s tough though.

“His tenacity is an asset for the team though, and can help overhaul Juve in the standings.”
