Tammy Abraham thanked Roma fans for their messages and assured he’ll ‘be okay’ after going off with a nasty knock to his left eye, which required stitches.
The striker had already been in doubt for tonight’s Serie A match against Hellas Verona, as he was suffering from flu symptoms overnight and earlier this morning.
He pushed through to start and lasted only 15 minutes, accidentally getting a boot in the eye from his teammate Gianluca Mancini during a chaotic corner.
After several minutes of treatment, Abraham left the field with a towel held against his left eye, shaking his head in frustration.
During the 1-0 win, decided by an Ola Solbakken goal, Abraham posted an Instagram Stories image showing himself wearing a hospital gown and still clutching some padding to his eye.
“Thank you for the messages. I’ll be okay,” wrote the England international.
A statement from Roma confirms that Abraham suffered a cut to the eyebrow that required stitches.
He then showed in the same Stories that he was watching the rest of the game unfold on television.
