Christian Abbiati admits Milan “should’ve finished it off” in their 1-0 Coppa Italia victory over Alessandria.
Mario Balotelli’s penalty was the only divider between Serie A giants and Lega Pro minnows in the first leg of this semi-final.
“We certainly had chances to score more goals and should’ve finished it off. We hit the woodwork as well with (M’Baye) Niang,” goalkeeper Abbiati told Rai Sport.

“There were a thousand potential pitfalls and Alessandria are a really impressive side, but we had to win.
“The Coppa Italia is one of our objectives along with qualifying for Europe.”
Now Milan can focus on Sunday night’s Derby della Madonnina against Inter.
“The Derby is the big game in Milan and we are highly motivated to bring home the three points, so from tomorrow we’ll think about that.”
