74 days after suffering a hamstring injury in the Champions League, Malick Thiaw has finally returned to training with his Milan teammates.
The 22-year-old German centre back suffered the injury in the 3-1 loss to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on November 28th, an injury that forced him to miss the club’s last 15 games across all competitions.
Thiaw’s injury came at the worst time for Milan, and it ultimately left them without three first-choice centre backs, as Fikayo Tomori also joined Pierre Kalulu and Thiaw on the sidelines. He is now the first of the trio to return.
Sky Sports Italia via TMW details how Thiaw joined his Milan teammates in the squad training session at Milanello today, taking a key step forward in his recovery. He’ll now work on building up his match fitness over the next week or two before returning to Stefano Pioli’s squad.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic was present at Milanello to watch the session, keen to see the team’s preparations for their coming league clash with Napoli.
