The Rossoblu are gathering pace, having picked up four points in their last two games, and their Coach is looking forward to the upcoming game against Sassuolo.

Going into the match, the former West Ham boss has stressed the importance of playing with only one striker up ahead.

“It's a formation that gives us stability,” said the Magic Box in a Press conference prior to the game.

“Maybe we'll change it on some occasions, but the focal point remains our football philosophy.”

Cagliari have shown improvement with their lone striker supported by two playmakers, and Zola was openly pleased with the performance of his players.

“When you have two quality players like [Albin] Ekdal and Joao Pedro, you're starting off with an advantage because they know how to do both phases of the game and they free up the wingers.

“Other than that, the work of the striker is important. [Samuele] Longo gives us substance and strength, though I'm expecting some improvement in terms of finding the goal.

“We're in a moment of growth, we've taken a few steps forward, I'm convinced that results will come by our performances.

“[Marco] Sau, [Diego] Farias and [Duje] Cop did very well when they came on against Udinese. Marco is acquiring confidence after his injury, Cop is fresh and has strength in his legs.

“[Josef] Husbauer is still a bit late, he's like a good diesel that needs some time.

“As for the tifosi, it's up to us to earn their support. I hope they'll stay close to us in the harder moments of the match, because Cagliari is all of us, not just Zola, the players or the directors.”
