The FIGC has announced new entries to the Calcio Hall of Fame, including Gianfranco Zola, Zinedine Zidane, Jose Mourinho and Sinisa Mihajlovic.

This was set up in 2011 as part of the Museum of Calcio to remember legends who have passed through Serie A and the Nazionale, as players, coaches, directors and referees.

The commission has chosen the 2023 entries, each of them representing one category in the Hall of Fame.

Chelsea hero Zola is the Italian Player picked, even though he rarely got the opportunity to show what he could do in the Azzurri jersey.

Former Juventus midfielder Zidane is the Foreign Player picked, while current Roma and former Treble-winning Inter boss Mourinho is added.

Alessandro Altobelli is the Italian Veteran, Cristiana Girelli the Womenโ€™s Player, former Inter chief Ernesto Pellegrini Italian Director.

There is a special memorial award for Mihajlovic, who spent most of his career in Italy as first player and then coach, succumbing to leukaemia in December 2022.

The Gianni Brera award goes to Mario Sconcerti, the popular journalist who died last month from a heart attack.

The Fair Play Award named after Davide Astori goes to referee Luca Martelli, who last Sunday interrupted a match he was officiating to rush into the stands and help save the life of his father using a defibrillator.
