“Verona are an excellent squad, as we saw last year when they almost qualified for Europe,” said Zola in his Press conference.

“Not every season is the same and they are struggling a little this time round, but remain a difficult opponent to face.

“In psychological terms this could be a very important match, as our win would destabilise them going forward this season.

“It will also be a tactically different encounter to the ones we’ve had recently, so they’ll sit behind the ball and invite us forward. We’ve been preparing for this and I’m intrigued to see if we can put our plan into practice.”

Cagliari have found an impressive talent in Paul-Jose M’Poku, who arrived in January from Standard Liege.

“He did very well against Inter and works hard during training too. He is proving himself to be a very important player and we will help him grow.”

Antonio Balzano and Marco Sau are on the treatment table, but Albin Ekdal has recovered from flu.
