Italy legend Dino Zoff insists Gianluigi Donnarumma is not stepping up a level. ‘I see little difference between PSG and Milan.’

The goalkeeper turned down €8m per season to stay at the club that gave him his big break at 16, instead leaving as a free agent and is now on the verge of signing for Paris Saint-Germain.

“This has been going on for months now. If he prefers to go to PSG, he is free to do so. If he thinks that he can earn more and be happy, good luck to him,” Zoff told PianetaMilan.it.

“However, I see little difference between PSG and Milan in football terms.”

The Rossoneri are back in the Champions League after a seven-year absence and finished second in Serie A this season.

“I think Donnarumma is a young goalkeeper who could certainly become excellent, but I wouldn’t call him the best in the world right now. He needs more experience.

“Stefano Pioli has done a great job and the Champions League qualification was not a target to be taken for granted.”
