Dino Zoff believes that Simone Scuffet doesn’t have the necessary experience to be picked for the World Cup.

The 17-year-old has launched himself into the consciousness of all Italian football fans this term, earning a regular starting place between the posts for Udinese.

But the World Cup winner claimed the teenager needs to earn his stripes domestically before being launched into the international arena.

“Scuffet is an interesting prospect,” Zoff told Il Mattino. “The lad looks to have the right temperament, and comes highly recommended from Francesco Guidolin.

“The fact that the Udinese Coach has such faith in him means he must be of real quality.

“I like his coolness and tranquillity. Not many goalkeepers have that, especially at such a young age. The fact that we are talking about a teenager is amazing.

“But would I take him to the World Cup? No. If I were Cesare Prandelli, I wouldn’t pick someone with so little experience.”
