Milan forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic will undergo tests tomorrow and could reportedly be back against Cagliari on January 18.

Sky Sport Italia reports the Swede had difficulties returning from Sweden after the Christmas holiday, as air transfer complications meant Hakan Calhanoglu, Franck Kessie and the veteran didn’t turn up for training at Milanello today.

The 39-year-old will, according to the broadcaster, undergo a medical examination to understand the extent of his calf injury tomorrow.

Zlatan has been out since the 3-1 win over Napoli in November and the report reveals he has targeted a return against Cagliari on January 18.

The club doesn't want to risk losing the veteran to another setback by rushing him back and he will therefore miss out against Juventus on January 6.

He will know more tomorrow, after the medical examinations. The Swede concluded 2020 with 22 goals since his return to Milan in January and Tuttosport claims he will soon sit down with the Diavolo to discuss his future.

Ibrahimovic’s contract expires in June 2021 and the club works to find a solution to keep him at the club.
