Ancelotti joked that he would call Ibrahimovic following Napoli’s 2-0 victory over Verona on Saturday, and the striker reacted to the speculation in his typically-maverick style.

“Everyone calls me. You want my number also? So you can call me also? Okay, we’ll fix it,” he told a reporter after LA Galaxy’s 2-1 win at Minnesota United yesterday.

The 38-year-old is a Serie A icon after Scudetto-winning spells with Juventus, Inter and Milan.

His contract with the Galaxy expires in December, and he was then encouraged by the same reporter to stay in MLS for another season.

“Thank you, I appreciate it,” replied the Swede, who has scored 52 goals in just 57 appearances for the Los Angeles side.
