Milan have started to build up resources to invest in Joshua Zirkzee in the summer, looking to get the jump on Manchester United and Arsenal for the Bologna star.

The Rossoneri know that important work is needed in the summer transfer window in order to help them close the gap to rivals and league leaders Inter and they’ve already drawn up a shortlist of targets as the season starts to draw to a close.

Zirkzee has been one of the stars of the show in Thiago Motta’s Bologna squad this term, netting 10 goals across 27 matches, and his work has attracted the attention of Milan, Manchester United, Arsenal and Juventus.

Milan plan for Zirkzee

Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com details how Milan have already set aside €40-50m in their budget for a new striker in the summer, prepared to invest to find a long-term replacement for Los Angeles FC bound Olivier Giroud.

Whilst this would be enough for targets like Jonathan David, Serhou Guirassy and Benjamin Sesko, the Rossoneri will need to find a little more for Zirkzee. As such, they’ve started to consider possible players to include in a deal.
