Finnish entrepreneur Thomas Zilliacus continues to drop hints about the potential takeover of Inter, writing he is ‘for now president of my own company only.’

The former Nokia executive confirmed in several interviews that he was “interested” in purchasing the San Siro giants, should Suning and Steven Zhang be willing to sell.

He then posted a series of messages on social media reiterating his love for Italy, the Lombardy region and Italian football.

When someone called him ‘Mr President’ on Twitter, Zilliacus replied with what was certainly not a denial.

“Very kind of you, and have a great day too! For now I am president of my own company only. Let us all support the real President of the club and hope that he and the team will lift the trophy on Saturday.”

Suning are facing a looming deadline next year to repay the huge €275m loan from Oaktree Capital, at an alarming interest rate, and badly need new investors if not a complete sale.

Including interest, the repayment sum is circa €350m and is owed by May 2024.

If they are unable to repay that loan, Oaktree would effectively repossess the club, just as Elliott Management did with Yonghong Li and Milan.
