Piotr Zielinski underlined Napoli’s ambitions for this season and provided an update on his possible contract renewal with the club.

The 28-year-old Polish midfielder has been an important part of Luciano Spalletti’s squad in the Campania capital this season, helping to dictate play and kickstart attacks from the centre of the pitch.

Zielinski has scored seven goals and provided 10 assists in 36 games across all competitions this season, playing his part in Napoli’s incredible rise to the top of the Serie A table and the Champions League quarter-finals.

Speaking to Sport Mediaset, Zielinski first discussed Napoli’s work for the Scudetto this season.

“We have goals, we want to reach them by winning as many games as possible. The word Scudetto has never frightened us, we’ve always had a strong team, we’re doing incredible things, but the season is still long, we have to continue like this because there are still so many points to be taken.”

He touched on the team’s belief in the Champions League. They will face Milan in the quarter-finals.

“Napoli are not afraid, even in the Champions League, we are a strong, mature team and we will do great things.”

The Polish midfielder commented on two of the stars of the show, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen.

“They are two very strong players, they give a lot, if one day they should win it I would be very happy, but I think about the team.”

Finally, Zielinski discussed the possibility of signing a new contract with Napoli. His current deal expires in the summer of 2024.

“The captain is Di Lorenzo, we’re fine. I feel great in Naples, ever since I arrived, I felt at home. I want to continue with this team. There’s a year and a half to go until the deadline, there’s no hurry.”
