Walter Mazzarri and Napoli will have to do without Piotr Zielinski for Saturday’s regional derby against Salernitana as the Poland international is suffering with fatigue, updates from the club have confirmed.
Napoli informed supporters of Zielinski’s absence on social media just before the release of the official line-ups.
Reports from Gianluca Di Marzio confirm that Zielinski will be assessed further in the coming days to understand the full extent of his situation and the potential recovery time.
Mazzarri has already had to make several alterations to his Partenopei side, with leading goalscorer Victor Osimhen and 2022-23 Scudetto winner Frank Zambo Anguissa both away for the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria and Cameroon respectively.
There will also be another opportunity for Pierluigi Gollini in goal, as regular no.1 Alex Meret is out for up to two months with a hamstring injury.
Kick-off at the Stadio Maradona is set for 14.00 GMT.
