Corriere dello Sport reports that Piotr Zielinski has turned down a lucrative offer from Al-Ahli as he waits for a new deal with Napoli.
The 29-year-old Polish midfielder has entered the final 12 months of his contract with the Partenopei and he’s keen to sign a new deal, despite interest from Lazio and Saudi Arabia.
Al-Ahli reportedly offered Zielinski a three-year contract worth €36m total, far more than he’d receive in a new contract with Napoli.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport via TMW, Zielinski has decided to reject the offer from Al-Ahli as he waits for an agreement to be reached with Napoli, wanting to pen a new deal.
Talks will not be simple, however, as the Partenopei are not willing to pay his current €4.8m net per season wages in a new deal, so he’d have to accept a pay cut to stay in the Campania capital.
His agent will arrive at Napoli’s pre-season training camp in Dimaro in the coming days to sit down with president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
