Piotr Zielinski insists Inter ‘need to win today’ against Crvena Zvezda in the Champions League, even though there is a lot of squad rotation from Simone Inzaghi.

It kicks off at San Siro at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

The Nerazzurri opened their European campaign with a creditable 0-0 draw away to Manchester City, so this becomes a must-win game against Red Star Belgrade.

“We need to win today, we must play the football we know and if we do that, then we’ll bring home the three points,” Zielinski told Sky Sport Italia.

“It is a system suited to me, so I am gradually settling in and hope to give my contribution so the team can get the best results.”

Nicolò Barella and Tajon Buchanan are injured, but there is also a great deal of squad rotation, sending Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram and Federico Dimarco to the bench.

Inter ended their dire run of results with a 3-2 victory away to Udinese, having previously lost to city rivals Milan in the Derby della Madonnina.

“We are a great team and victories bring confidence, self-belief, so I am sure we’ll do well this evening and it will be a boost for the next few games,” concluded the former Napoli midfielder.

He arrived as a free agent over the summer, along with striker Medhi Taremi, who is also set to start this evening at San Siro.
