Zinedine Zidane is reportedly the first choice for Juventus next season if Max Allegri fails to win the Champions League.

The 2-0 first leg defeat to Atletico Madrid means they risk going out in the Round of 16, which after spending €100m on Cristiano Ronaldo would be a disastrous result.

Today the Juve shares dropped 11 per cent on the stock exchange and if the elimination is confirmed after the second leg in March, expect an even greater plummet.

According to Tuttosport, Allegri will leave the club in the summer if Juventus fail to deliver the Champions League trophy and Zidane is the first choice to replace him.

The former Juve player, who won three consecutive Champions League titles at Real Madrid as a Coach, is said to be keeping a close eye on the situation.

He has other proposals too, most notably from Chelsea, who are already looking to replace Maurizio Sarri.

Manchester United have also not yet decided whether to give Ole Gunner Solskjaer the job permanently after sacking Jose Mourinho, so Zidane remains a candidate for them too.

However, considering his history with Juve, the resources at their disposal and the chance to reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo, it’s safe to say the Bianconeri would be his preferred alternative.
