Real Madrid Coach Zinedine Zidane says “we’re facing a great team” in Roma ahead of tomorrow’s game.

Los Merengues arrived in the Italian capital today ahead of the Last 16 first leg at Stadio Olimpico tomorrow.

“We have to start strong,” Zidane said in the pre-match Press conference, sitting alone after Cristiano Ronaldo walked out.

“We’re facing a great team, but we’re calm because we’ve been working well.

“We all know what this competition represents for Real Madrid, we’re fine physically and we’ll do everything to go through.

“Can we break our hoodoo against Italian teams? We hope so. It’s a tie that lasts 180 minutes, tomorrow is just the first half.”

Zidane played against Roma captain Francesco Totti on numerous occasions, is he surprised to see Er Pupone still playing?

“Should he retire? What he’s done is important, it’s up to him to decide. It’s a pleasure to see a player like him on the pitch.”

Brazilian full-back Marcelo has been included in the squad for tomorrow, but the former Juventus midfielder admits his left-back may not start.

“Marcelo is fine,” Zidane assured.

“But he’ll only play if he’s 100 per cent, we’ll see how he is overnight. In a tournament like this you have to be at your best.”
