Zidane ‘preferred to avoid Juventus’

Real Madrid Coach Zinedine Zidane confessed he “would’ve preferred to avoid Juventus” in the Champions League, but “we have a 50-50 chance.”

The two giants clashed last year in the Final, the Merengues emerging 4-1 winners in Cardiff, and will meet again in the quarter-final next month.

“I played with Juventus for five years, so every time I face them, it does bring up a lot of emotions,” admitted Zidane in his Press conference.

“I would’ve preferred to avoid Juventus for many reasons, but when we do take them on, I’ll put aside sentiment and memories, which are always in my mind, and concentrate on the game.

“Juve are just as strong as last season, are very competitive and I expect an extremely difficult and balanced tie over two legs.

“I’d say we both have a 50-50 chance of going through.”
