Zinedine Zidane has reportedly hit a crossroads in his career, with one path leading to the France national team and the other leading to Juventus.

The 50-year-old French coach has been out of work since leaving Real Madrid at the end of June 2021 and its been rumoured for months that he’s been waiting for Didier Deschamps to leave his role with Les Bleus in order to take over. Reports suggest that he’s turned down approaches from Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United over the last year in a bid to lead his national team.

As detailed by Corriere dello Sport, Zidane is still waiting to take over as France coach, keen to lead the team for Euro 2024 and the 2026 World Cup, but much depends on what the French FA decides to do with Deschamps.

Should the current coach’s role be confirmed following their World Cup final loss, Zidane could decide to return to Italy with Juventus, who will sit down Massimiliano Allegri at the end of this season to make assessments regarding his future.

It’s still unclear if Zidane would be willing to take over at the Old Lady and he could simply continue waiting for Deschamps to vacate the role with France.

  1. Unfortunately, like a lot of articles that have been popping up here lately. Rehashing the same stories, speculative ones, or social media vids. Or translations of Italian newspaper headlines.
