Tuttosport claim Zenit have agreed to sell Axel Witsel to Juventus in January for €6m plus bonuses.

The Belgian international will be a free agent at the end of the season anyway and has refused to sign a new deal.

According to Friday’s edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, Zenit St Petersburg Coach Mircea Lucescu has given the all clear to a January sale.

Witsel had already agreed terms with Juve over the summer and waited in the club headquarters for over 10 hours on transfer deadline day.

As Zenit were unable to find a suitable replacement, they did not send over the paperwork to release Witsel to Juventus.

It was well known, and never denied by the player himself, that this move was only postponed.

Tuttosport believe this swoop is in addition to Juventus possibly paying the €30m release clause for Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi.
