Serie A has been suspended since March 9 and the different hypotheses are slowly being quashed by further uncertainties regarding the spread of COVID-19 in Italy.
The situation is not getting any better and Cagliari’s new coach, Zenga, has revealed that the Rossoblu are ready to accept playing also during the national holidays in August.
“Football will be life and if you must, you can also play during the holidays,” Zenga told the Gazzetta dello Sport. “Starting again today is unthinkable.
“When we do, we will have to accept everything, who cares about the holidays. My Cagliari will have to think big, more than just to stay up.”
Cagliari had a great start to the season under Rolando Maran and at one point they were fourth in Serie A, but a poor end to 2019 continued into 2020 and with the Rossoblu at 12th in the League, the coach lost his job at the Sardegna Arena.
Zenga was appointed on March 3, on a deal until June 2021, but has yet to get his first game in charge of the Casteddu.
