Coach Walter Zenga believes Sampdoria’s strikeforce ‘can frighten anyone’, and is glad Roberto Soriano stayed.

The Blucerchiati have scored seven goals in their opening two games this season, with Luis Muriel and Eder linking up well, though they have let in four at the other end.

“We’re doing very well in attack,” Zenga explained, speaking to Mediaset.

“We’re moving in the right way, both with and without the ball. Our strikers can frighten anyone, they’re fantastic.

“The defence? As we’re putting pressure on the opposition rearguard we can make mistakes with our own. That’s common to all teams, it’s physiological.”

Roberto Soriano had agreed a move to Napoli on deadline day, but the teams couldn’t finalise the paperwork in time, and Zenga is glad the midfielder has remained.

“We wanted to keep Eder and Soriano. This is a united squad, and we don’t want to break it up.

“Our objectives? To give 200 per cent in every training session, and improve.”
