Zenga: ‘Samp result irrelevant’

Walter Zenga is “not interested in the result” of friendlies as long as Sampdoria are ready for the Europa League.

The Blucerchiati were held 1-1 by Serie B side Trapani today, scoring only from the penalty spot.

“I am not interested in the result, as friendlies to me are on a par with training sessions,” said Coach Zenga.

“I am not interested in the result, as friendlies to me are on a par with training sessions,” said Coach Zenga.

“We are working to ensure the players are ready at a good level to play on July 30 and August 6. We cannot talk about tactical issues right now.

“I am satisfied with what we have done so far this pre-season. These games can help to find the synchronicity that only playing together on the field can give you.”

Sampdoria’s Europa League preliminary round opponents are likely to be Serbian side Vojvodina.

“This team always had a lot of character. They are talented and adaptable and will be at a more advanced stage of fitness training than us.”
