“We must continue to put in the strong performances we already have done against the big clubs. We know the Viola play great football, but also that we have what it takes to cause them issues,” said the Coach in his Press conference.
“Fiorentina have done very well and will continue to do well, but I think you can only really start to take the Serie A table seriously after Christmas. Milan are getting back into the race and Juventus are starting to splutter into life.
“I go into every game believing I can win it. Thinking like that is part of being a Coach and a fan. What I do really want is for the team to stop conceding so many goals. If we look back, all of them have been avoidable.”
On Friday Cassano did not take part in the tactical drill XI v XI in training, fuelling reports he’s considering a January move to Atalanta.
“I am a Coach, do I not have the right to rest Cassano? I am tired of having to release a statement every time Antonio doesn’t train. He is behaving in the ideal manner.
“It seems heretical to make Cassano go through a technical and tactical drill. I prefer to work with a young player like Bonazzoli who needed the lesson.”
Former Sampdoria legend Gianluca Vialli visited Zenga at the training ground this week.
“I thank Vialli because he said something wonderful, that I don’t use the team to make myself look good. This is a great compliment.”
