Walter Zenga felt Atalanta’s late equaliser was “a bit of a fluke” after Crotone had taken the lead through Rolando Mandragora.
The Calabrese club continued their impressive unbeaten run after holding Inter to a 1-1 draw last week, but have regrets that they were leading Atalanta.
“The lads put in a strong performance. Atalanta are no longer a provincial club, they are a consolidated side in the race for a top six position,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia following another 1-1 result.
The game was undoubtedly affected by heavy rainfall and a waterlogged pitch, but introducing Arlind Ajeti in the second half made a big difference.
“We did try this option with Ajeti in the middle of the park during the week, so it’s a shame in the end we didn’t hold on for the victory.
“We were focused and concentrated to the end, so with the pitch in that condition, it was a good point to pick up. Jose Luis Palomino’s equaliser was a bit of a fluke, a combination of a set play, a scuffed shot and deflections.”
