Roma Coach Zdenek Zeman has hit back at Ciro Ferrara and Massimo Cellino in a typically forthright press conference.
The opinionated Czech was speaking ahead of his side's encounter with Sampdoria at the Stadio Olimpico tomorrow night.
Earlier today Samp boss Ferrara, formerly a Juventus player, criticised Zeman for tarnishing his image when he claimed there was a culture of doping at Juve in the nineties, stating: “I can't accept him.”
“Ferrara? If he says I harmed his image, my reply would be that the courts are concerned with certain things,” the former Pescara boss shrugged. “It's none of my business.”
He then turned his ire on Cagliari President Cellino, whose decision to invite fans to Sunday's game against Roma, despite the Stadio Is Arenas being deemed unsafe, resulted in the postponement of the game and a 3-0 victory being awarded to the Giallorossi.
“Cellino is angry? I think there's a lot more people angry with him. His action was serious. The players and fans of Cagliari are not to blame but rules are rules.”
Zeman was responding to the news that Cellino is flying in from abroad to mount an appeal against the decision to award Roma the three points.
I Lupi go into tomorrow's game fifth, two points behind Sampdoria, and lost their last game at the Olimpico 3-2 to Bologna, but Zeman claims the squad are confident they can target the Scudetto.
“This Roma can fight for the title. The players believe it.”
