Simone Zaza says he’s comfortable playing many roles for Juventus, but denies he’s a battering ram.

The striker was presented by the Bianconeri to fans and media this afternoon, and was asked about comments that he batters defenders to get to the goal.

“The thing about battering defenders is something I’ve never said,” Zaza explained.

“I’ve always said that. However, it’s normal that you do what you have to, to score a goal.”

The Italian international was also asked about his potential striker partners, and the formation the Old Lady could deploy.

“I can’t say I know [Mario] Mandzukic well, because I only trained with him for the first time today. I’ve seen a lot of his matches though, and he’s really a poacher in the penalty area.

“I don’t know if we’ll play together or not. I hope so, but we’ll see. As for the other players in my position, they’re all new, except Alvaro Morata. I honestly couldn’t tell you who I’m most suited to playing with.

“With regard to formations, for two years I’ve played in a front-three, but then since last September I started playing with a front-two for the national team.

“The important thing for me is to play.”

Zaza has taken the number 7 shirt for the forthcoming season, and explained his motivations.

“I took the number 7 shirt because it was free, and it’s the same number I wear for the national team.

“I like it, and so I chose that one. I’ve never had an idol as such, but if I had to pick one then my favourite was [Marco] Van Basten, but there are other strikers, past and current, who I like a lot.”
