Borja Mayoral had opened the scoring after just four minutes when the offside trap failed, but Antonio Sanabria, Zaza and Tomas Rincon turned it around.

“It’s an important goal, it made sure we could turn the game around. It’s a hugely important victory against a strong team and after so many negative months, we have enthusiasm and unity,” Zaza told Sky Sport Italia.

He scored with practically his first touch after coming off the bench, but the team has been transformed under coach Davide Nicola.

“I am very happy for the whole team as well as on a personal level. We’ve developed the belief in ourselves, realising we are not the side who deserved to be in the bottom three.

“We were courageous, taking risks against a very attacking Roma side, and it paid off. We have strong players and we are proving that now, with the Toro spirit that we had been missing in the first half of the season.”
