Simone Zaza calls Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi to Juventus – “he’s one of the best we have in Italy”.

The pair formed a deadly understanding while Zaza was with the Neroverdi, with the big striker earning a move to Turin this summer.

Berardi was co-owned by the two clubs, but the Old Lady sold him outright this summer, while retaining a buyback clause, and Zaza wants to reunite in Bianconero.

“Domenico is a person I get on very well with off the pitch,” Zaza confirmed in an interview with Sky.

“Domenico is a person I get on very well with off the pitch,” Zaza confirmed in an interview with Sky.

“We helped each other, because we were both taking the path of the first two years in Serie A, where we grew up and improved, but also did stupid things and realised we were wrong.

“He’s really a talent, he helped me provide goals and I helped him to score them, working on his movements with the Coach [Eusebio Di Francesco] last year.

“Of course I want to play with the best, and I think he’s one of the best we have in Italy so I hope our paths cross again one day.

“Also because besides being a footballer, he’s a friend too.”

Zaza is currently seen as fourth-choice striker for Juve, could his competition with Alvaro Morata hurt his chances of going to Euro 2016 with Italy?

“Alvaro and I are good friends, and we often hang out together off the pitch. Perhaps it’s not true that we’re so different.

“We’re similar in many ways, we like to relax in the same way and we have the same hobbies. I’m glad when he scores, and obviously he’s happy when I score. There’s no rivalry.

“If there is, then it’s the healthy, normal kind in the sense that we push each other.

“As I’ve always said and have never hid, my goal is to be part of the European Championships. So I’ll try to do my best with Juve and consequently with the national team.”
