Roma wingback Davide Zappacosta is set to be out for 4-5 months after undergoing surgery on a torn ACL.

Roma announced earlier today that Zappacosta had damaged the knee ligaments in his right leg.

That was followed by confirmation that the 27-year-old was successfully operated on in the afternoon.

Sky Sport Italia is standing by its original forecast of 4-5 months out for the Chelsea loanee, whose season-long deal has a break clause that can be activated in January.

However, the Giallorossi’s statement reads “the player will start the rehabilitation process imminently”.

That suggests he will at least stay with the club for the beginning of his recovery.
