Davide Zappacosta is still only on loan from Chelsea, but is in no rush to leave Italy. ‘I hope to remain at Roma, especially to prove what I can really do.’

He turns 28 next month and his experience in the Giallorossi jersey was reduced to just one 12-minute substitute appearance in August 2019.

That’s because he suffered a calf strain, followed by a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee.

“I really hope that I can remain at Roma for many reasons,” Zappacosta told Sky Sport Italia.

“I really hope that I can remain at Roma for many reasons,” Zappacosta told Sky Sport Italia.

“First and foremost, I’d like to prove to the club and fans what I can really do. I trained hard and made many sacrifices to ensure that I’ll be fit for when the season resumes.

“I’d say that I am 90 per cent there in terms of fitness and hope to be ready when the games do start up again.”

Serie A is expected to return around June 13-20.
