Zappacosta carried off for Atalanta with ankle injury

There are more injury worries for Atalanta, as Davide Zappacosta was carried off in agony during the Champions League match with Young Boys.

The wing-back had been on sparkling form so far this season after his transfer from Chelsea, contributing a goal and four assists in 16 appearances between Serie A and the Champions League.

He had a good start in Berne too this evening, but was wiped out by a horrible challenge from Nicolas Moumi Ngamaleu.

The referee opted for a yellow card, but it left Zappacosta in agony with an ankle injury.

It was just a minute before half-time at the Wankdorf Stadium, so he was carried off the pitch by two members of the Atalanta medical staff.

There are fears the Italy international has sprained his right ankle and he was replaced by Giuseppe Pezzella for the second half.

Atalanta are already without wing-backs Robin Gosens and Hans Hateboer.
