Atalanta star Duvan Zapata admits he was tempted by a move to Inter in the summer and expects an intense game against Manchester United tomorrow.

Scorer of six goals in 12 appearances across all competitions this season, the Colombian striker spoke at a press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League clash against Manchester United.

La Dea are on even points with Villareal in the Champions League Group F.

Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini insisted that the game against Man United is not decisive, while Zapata predicted an ‘intense’ game against the Red Devils.

“I expect a tough game, like every Champions League match,” Zapata said.

“They’ve just won in the Premier League. Intensity will be high, so we’ll need to make the most of our characteristics. We must try to win.

“I am motivated. The mental aspect is the most important thing. Performances are a consequence of how you train.

“We don’t have a lot of time to train, but when we enter the pitch, we always want to have the same intensity.”

Atalanta will meet Cristiano Ronaldo again after that the Portuguese ace scored his fourth goal against La Dea two weeks ago.

CR7 netted a late winner in the Red Devils’ 3-2 win over Gasperini’s men.

“We’ll need to be ready and don’t give space to him and United.”

Zapata is under contract with Atalanta until 2023, but he could have joined Inter over the summer.

“I was tempted by Inter,” Zapata admitted.

“However, I have my ideas, I am happy to have stayed in Bergamo which is the best thing for my family and me.”
