Milan defender Cristian Zapata is “ready to give the Coach a headache” as he’s finally fit after ankle surgery.
The centre-back required an operation after being injured while playing for Colombia at the Copa America.
As a result, he hasn’t played a single minute for the Rossoneri this season but the 29-year-old is ready to win back his place.
“I’m very happy to have taken part in training with my teammates,” Zapata said in an interview with Milan TV.

“I’m very happy to have taken part in training with my teammates,” Zapata said in an interview with Milan TV.
“I’ve definitely missed a lot, I was out of action for three months. It’s a very nice feeling to be back with my teammates. I’m slowly working toward a permanent return to the squad.
“I feel very good, the preparation is going really well. It was a serious injury, but I’ll definitely return soon and I’m doing the physical work to get back into shape.
“The most important thing is the pitch, staying on the sidelines is the hardest thing. My teammates keep telling me I’ve finally finished my holiday…
“The Coach [Vincenzo Montella] is very attentive and always makes a point of asking how I am. I don’t expect anything more to get fit again and be part of this great squad.
“I’ve seen a united team which has responded to difficulty really well. I talk to my teammates and they’re feeling good. From the outside you can see a team which wants to play good football.
“There definitely isn’t the consistency though, and our objective is to find that. I’m fired-up and ready to give my best to the team and to cause the Coach a headache.”
Just as Zapata is coming back, captain Riccardo Montolivo has been sidelined with a cruciate ligament injury.
“I’m disappointed about his injury. He’s our captain and he’s a very important player for us. We’re all beside him, awaiting his speedy recovery.”
